Occupied from around 2300 to 1100 BC, Filakopi was a leading Aegean city of the early Bronze Age, powered by Milos' abundant obsidian — the steel of the ancient world. Partially excavated by the British School at Athens, the site sits on the northeastern coast and is open to visitors.
