What April is like
April is spring proper: green hills, wildflowers and mostly sunny days, with the odd shower. The sea is still cold for most people. The island wakes up through the month, and Greek Easter (often in April) brings a busy, festive weekend with services in every village.
Swimming and beaches
The sea averages 17°C in April. Cold: brief dips or a wetsuit. Swimming is for those used to cool water; the coast is better for walks and photos this time of year.
